Tight quads or weak quads?
One of the more recent trends in rehab and fitness is to really question what the feeling of “tightness” is. Many muscles that feel tight in activities or stretches often test weak with an isometric or manual muscle test.

Tightness is a just a bad feeling in your muscles
You can’t really stretch and lengthen a muscle and get rapid results. Muscles have to grow longer with prolonged and static stretching. One study showed muscles growing longer after 4-6 weeks of stretching 30 min a day. Muscles don’t grow longer any faster than it takes to build muscle, with resistance training.

Enter low threshold isometrics
Many Modern Physical Therapists show strengthening exercises for “weak” hip flexors. These may be difficult to perform. Using low threshold isometrics - 10-40% of your max force while breathing normally can accomplish a great “reset” of the feeling of muscle tightness.
