FIX NECK PAIN AND UPPER TRAP TIGHTNESS
One sided neck pain or upper trap tightness? Try this!
One sided neck pain or upper trap tightness? Try this!
The key to this is to maintain chin tuck. Keep eyes forward and make a double chin. Think ugly person coming in to kiss you! Pull your head toward the tight side to slack the tight muscles. Use isometric resistance to the side of tightness if there is pinching or pain
If your upper trap/neck issues also cause overhead shoulder pain, try shoulder extension whips. Grab a light weight and whip your arm back behind you for a set of 5-10 reps. This should improve your overhead mobility and reduce lat tightness
After the first two exercises relieve neck pain/tightness on one side, you need to load up those muscles. Take a dumbbell or kettlebell and shrug your shoulder up, and slowly let it down. Try a few sets and get those traps working!
